Antonio Mazzarino

Antonio Mazzarino is multi-talented; besides being a passionate chef in his native Sicily he is also a sculptor and painter. He learned to cook as child by watching his family prepare meals and later by reading his mother’s collection of family recipes that date back to the early 19th century. He came to America in the 70’s and in 1977 he opened a real old-fashioned Italian fruit and vegetable store in Manhattan stocked with many products not widely used at that time. It was an instant hit and connoisseurs flocked to his store to purchase the unusual products. Returning to Sicily he opened his first restaurant in 1988 and later sold it. But the restaurant business is in his blood and later this year he will open a new establishment featuring rustic and home cooking situated near one of his farms. Several times a year he guides tourists in special packaged tour of authentic Sicilian restaurants. For more information go to www.travelplus.tv
